A Warner Bros.recently announced the date and further details of the production of Tin Burton's feature film. Although it was only announced this year, Plan B, the production company, has been interested in producing a sequel since 2022.

Beetlejuice 2 hits theaters on September 6, 2024, and will feature actress Jenna Ortega in the role of Lydia Deetz's daughter, who in the first film is starred by Winona Ryder, who so far is not known to be returning for the feature.

After dying when their car falls into a river, Barbara Maitland (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) find themselves as ghosts who can't leave their New England country house, because before they can get their wings they have to occupy the house as ghosts for the next fifty years. The peace is shattered when Charles (Jeffrey Jones) and Delia Deitz (Catherine O'Hara), a nouveau riche couple, buy the house. But the Maitlands are as harmless as ghosts and their efforts to scare off the buyers end in failure. And if the couple aren't terrified, Lydia Deitz (Winona Ryder), their eccentric and dark daughter, can see and talk to Barbara and Adam, who hire the services of a Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a "bio-exorcist", to terrify the residents, even though they feel sympathy for Lydia. But soon the situation gets out of hand.
