HBO Max cancels 'Gossip Girl' reboot after two seasons

'Fans'Gossip Girl' will not see the third season of the teen series, because HBO Max canceled it this Thursday, January 19th.

Through a statement on his social networks, Joshua Safran, showrunner of the series, announced the cancellation by the platform, the TV Line website also confirmed the information.

After the official announcement of Gossip Girl's cancellation, the fan community expressed surprise, as the series received good reviews on the main review sites. On Rotten Tomatoes, the second season debuted with 100% approval from critics.

In the post, Joshua Safran thanked fans of the reboot:

“So here's the goss: It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that GOSSIP GIRL will not continue on HBO Max. The EPs and I will be forever grateful to the network and studio for their faith and support; the writers for their devious brains and deft talent; the superstar cast for being the greatest of collaborators and friends; and the team for their hard work, dedication and love for the project.”
