Opinion: Jenna Ortega didn't lie when she criticized Wandinha

To say that the series Wandinha, or in its original name Wednesday, is bad, well, I'd be lying, but maybe not. That's a questionable statement - points can be raised for debate on various aspects of the series.

Recently, actress Jenna Ortega, who plays Wandinha and became well known for the series, but not only for that, criticized the series and said she had turned down the role several times before accepting it definitively.

I don't judge her for that, because Wandinha's proposal was supposed to be something dark, or rather, something scary. Anyone who watches the series expecting to be reminded of the traditional Addams Family and is faced with a teenage cliché won't return. It's disappointing. But those looking for something different might like it, it's two totally different worlds.

Perhaps that was the proposal: to make something from years ago enter today's reality and stand out as something for social networks, and become popular through dancing on TikTok.

Jenna Ortega, who is looking to become even more recognized in the world of horror - she is part of the renowned Panic franchise and has also been in the Netflix series YOU - is not wrong to criticize Wandinha, as the series has become totally cliché, with romance and teenage fights, as mentioned above.

Perhaps this is the era of renewal in streaming and cinema, but I still like good old-fashioned horror, which, despite many flaws, didn't lack what many productions lack today.
