The reboot of "Teen Wolf: The Movie" premiered yesterday, Friday, January 27, on Paramount+. The original series, which ran for six seasons, attracted a huge fan base. However, the reviews of the movie were not very positive.
In our recent review, we mentioned how the return of Allison Argent, played by Crystal Reed, could be an attempt by creator Jeff Davis to deal with the absence of actor Dylan O'Brien (Stiles) from the cast. Unfortunately, this prediction proved correct.
Although the movie trailer may look attractive, the film itself falls into an old style of filmmaking that is no longer so popular today. The excessive use of moving cameras may not please viewers who were expecting a more technological production.
The main plot of the movie revolves around the return of Allison Argent. Although the story remained faithful to the original proposal, the movie ended up exaggerating the amount of time dedicated to this story.
Basically, the movie boils down to showing Scott McCall's pack coming together again to save Allison from a state between life and death. However, upon her return, Allison seeks the destruction of McCall's pack. Together, they try to make her remember her past before she "died" in Scott's arms.
Once this mission is accomplished, Allison joins the pack and together they fight to defeat the main villains of the movie, the Oni, summoned at the beginning of the movie by breaking the tails of a Kitsune.
